Sometime in 2000 to present - Belfast Conservation Action Team
I have worked with Conservation Volunteers for around 4 years and enjoyed every minute of it and the people you meet everyday when you volunteer are great! Something must be good because I keep coming back. The staff are all very nice as well and welcome you with open arms (especially Helen and Therese - they promised me chocolate!).
The work is always varied. Throughout my time here I have worked within various different parts of Conservation Volunteers, mainly the wildflower nursery, tree nursery and the Belfast Conservation Action Team! Work involved includes things like creating drystone walls, fences, habitats, etc., and it can all be very rewarding to know that you are doing something that is worthwhile. People of all ages and all backgrounds are very welcome, there is always something to do and your help is always much appreciated!

Nach 3 Jahren Studium – Medieninformatik – und täglich mindestens 5 Stunden am Computer war eine Abwechslung in den Ferien nötig. Auch meine Englischkenntnisse waren nicht wirklich gut. Also was tun?
Mein Freund war eben erst 6 Monate in Nordirland bei den Conservation Volunteers und war begeistert von Arbeit, Land und Leuten. Also hab ich nach Semesterende meinen Computer für 5 Wochen heruntergefahren und bin nach Nordirland hochgefahren.
Jetzt bin ich mehr als 3 Wochen hier, mein Englisch wird langsam besser und es gefällt mir sehr. Ich war schon in verschiedenen Teams und Projekten, aber beim Conservation Action Team bin ich hängen geblieben. Es gibt jeden Tag eine andere Arbeit, wir arbeiten an verschiedenen Orten und ich lerne dadurch Belfast und Nordirland kennen. Ich habe hier bei CVNI eine sehr angenehme und herzliche Arbeitsatmosphäre vorgefunden.
Das Land Nordirland kann ich jedem nur empfehlen. Belfast als wachsende Stadt ist beeindruckend und die Landschaft von Nord Irland ist einfach faszinierend. Die Küste rund um den Giant’s Causeway und die Mourne Mountains sind ein MUSS für jeden, der mal nach Nordirland kommt.
