Gabry in English

Here I am…..right in the moment of the truth, or better, in the right moment for me to share my experience with you guys and telling you my life as a volunteer.

My first day at Clandeboye was a sunny day, very easy to remember in this part of the world; David was showing me the Estate and introducing me to everybody we had the chance to meet. Was birthday as well and no party was waiting for me, because nobody new me…but I didn’t know that a nice surprise was waiting for me!!!

In fact, during the afternoon, while I was working in the demo-garden, I could hear somebody coming and singing in English (at that time for me was an absolute foreign language! It is still…but I’m working on it!)….my birthday cake was coming along with complete strangers…the ones that now are my work-mates, my friends, my fellow traveller…

So far has been more than 8 months that I’m here, but the time pass so fast!

During my time here I discovered the rhythm of the seasons, they colors, and the scent of cut grass.

I discovered that travel around and feel free it’s a possibility, that work and feel happy it’s also a possibility; I discovered that it’s possible to come across yourself in a way that you would never experience otherwise…

People that I met during my “journey” here have given me new lens to watch the world through, made me taste new meals and know new languages. They protected and spoiled me.

That’s my life in here! I learned that in order to grow something, anything, you have to know how, and if you cannot make it, it’s because you didn’t give to yourself enough time, or you didn’t love enough…
